116: The Origins of Johannine Logos That Was “With God”
Thursday Apr 16, 2020
Thursday Apr 16, 2020
In this episode, we explore how portrayals of the personified word and personified wisdom of God influenced the opening line of John's Gospel, i.e. "the Word was with God." We note several Jewish texts--all predating the Gospel of John--where poets depicted God with his word/wisdom, without suggesting that these personified attributes were conscious divine persons.
