This episode sets out to explore the important christological passage of Phil 2:5-11 to see if it also subverts the claims of Rome and her emperors. Would Paul's depiction of Jesus have been heard as offensive to those loyal to Caesar and his empire? I think so, and I think Paul intended that his argument be subversive.
